45" x 28"
Irregularly Shaped Piece
Acrylic on Fabric
One-legged jeans appear frequently among my "American Icon" paintings. Sometimes they come to me with one leg, other times, I simply cut or tear off a leg to create assymetry.
There are many pleasant surprises. A ragged hole appears in just the right place, a frayed edge of fabric perfectly counterpoints the precision of a grid pattern, an unzipped fly, folded out, reveals a liner that provides complimentary color and texture against the color and texture of the leg.
Everything is improvised.
