Ink Drawing - Pen and Brush
In Maxwell's drawing "Standing Nude" we see the use of a minimal graphic vocabulary - point, line, plane (shape) in a subtle allusion to the female figure. Although a recognizable element is desirable, the drawing asserts itself as a formal complex (a visual poem) demanding that we pay attention to its independence as well as to its referencing function.
